What our clients say
Can your competitors steal your business identity and take advantage of your hard earned reputation?
Dispel the misconceptions
A common myth that people are often mislead by is that if you register a company name at Companies House or an internet domain name with a registrar then you have an exclusive right to use that name. This is not the case! One can still set up X Ltd 'trading as' your name.
Your brand is a business asset
In today's current competitive and global market place your intellectual property is your biggest asset. Businesses spend so much time, money and effort promoting their brand so they will be recognised by the customer. It is therefore a very important and wise step to legally protect your business identity from potential infringers who could reap the benefits of your hard work.
Take protection action
The strongest form of protection is to pursue the registration of a trade mark. At Acumen Business Law we have a dedicated Trade Mark Advisor charging a flat fee of £250 for trade mark registration. You will own your trade mark and should someone try and copy your name or logo or use a confusingly similar mark it is then much easier to ensue legal action against them.
Don't let someone else get there first
It is also important to note that should a third party register your trade mark before you are able to do so, you will not be able to register the mark as your own. Do not delay; this is a crucial step in protecting your company's commercial and financial future.

"A product is something made in a factory; a brand is something that is bought by the customer. A product can be copied by a competitor; a brand is unique. A product can be quickly outdated; a successful brand is timeless" - Steven King
